Phase 2 of Construction….

Posted in Uncategorized on August 12, 2009 by jessicathatcher

Hey Guys…

Wanted to give you a quick update on what is taking place in Mexico. They are beginning the 2nd story skin (building the wall around the perimeter) This is what the church looks like right now….

CIMG1169

Ernesto sent me a detailed list of the construction/financial needs for this project. It is our heart to see the Body of Christ come together to meet these needs. Not only financially, but more important, prayerfully. When people step out in FAITH, the enemy comes to buffet….when people build for the LORD, the enemy comes to buffet.

We see examples of this all through Scripture.

Ezra- The Lord called the people  that returned from captivity to rebuild the Temple, the enemy was there to hinder. They first tried to bring in compromise when  they asked to help. The people of Israel refused. The enemies then tried to discourage the people.

“Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the descendants of the captivity were building the temple of the LORD God of Israel, they came to Zerubbabel and the heads of the fathers’ houses, and said to them, “Let us build with you, for we seek your God as you do; and we have sacrificed to Him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assyria, who brought us here.”  But Zerubbabel and Jeshua and the rest of the heads of the fathers’ houses of Israel said to them, “You may do nothing with us to build a house for our God; but we alone will build to the LORD God of Israel, as King Cyrus the king of Persia has commanded us.”  Then the people of the land tried to discourage the people of Judah. They troubled them in building,  and hired counselors against them to frustrate their purpose all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.”     Ezra 4:4, 5

Nehemiah- Nehemiah had a heart to help his people rebuild the wall around Jerusalem that had been destroyed. The LORD opened the doors for him to be able to return and use him to stir the people to rebuild. They are many times in this small book that the enemy tries to discourage the people and Nehemiah to quit.

“So we built the wall, and the entire wall was joined together up to half its height, for the people had a mind to work.
Now it happened, when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the walls of Jerusalem were being restored and the gaps were beginning to be closed, that they became very angry,  and all of them conspired together to come and attack Jerusalem and create confusion. Nevertheless we made our prayer to our God, and because of them we set a watch against them day and night.”    Nehemiah 4: 6-9

“Now it happened when Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab, and the rest of our enemies heard that I had rebuilt the wall, and that there were no breaks left in it (though at that time I had not hung the doors in the gates),  that Sanballat and Geshem sent to me, saying, “Come, let us meet together among the villages in the plain of Ono.” But they thought to do me harm.
So I sent messengers to them, saying, “I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down. Why should the work cease while I leave it and go down to you?” But they sent me this message four times, and I answered them in the same manner.”    Nehemiah 6:1-3

These are just some examples of the enemy coming against the Work of the Lord…but there are many, many more examples in Scripture. I just felt like I needed to share those to remind us that truly the GREATEST need CC Las Palmas has is…… PRAYER!!!! May the LORD stir you up to pray for protection, clarity and wisdom as they step out in faith in the next phase of construction.

If the LORD does stir you to give financially, please memo “MEXICO BUILDING FUND”

Hey Guys…..

Just wanted to give you guys a quick update before we head out.

First of all, I would like to say THANK YOU to everyone that donated, gave and bought supplies! We have SO much stuff, its awesome! I’ll make sure to take some pictures so you guys can see. Praise the LORD for stirring hearts to give! It’s a HUGE blessing!

OK, so there are only three people going:

Jessica Thatcher

Jeff Capps

Joshua Griffin ( He lives in Hagerman, but has gone on many past trips)

There was some difficulties with the van. As it turned out, we are NOT able to take it. Which was a bummer….but we’re trusting the Lord with it. Thankfully, Joshua has a truck that we are able to take. Its on the big side, so please pray for protection and invisibility as we cross over.

We covet your prayers!!!!!!

Thanks again!

MEXICO TRIP- July 17th-19th, 2009!!!!!!!

Posted in Uncategorized on July 9, 2009 by jessicathatcher

Hey Guys…..

Now that we are 1 1/2 weeks away from our latest Mexico Mission Trip, I thought I would finally post all the details ; )

REMINDER: Everyone MUST have a current passport or passport card!!!!!!!!

We’ll be leaving Friday morning at 10:00 a.m from Calvary Chapel Roswell. Lunch will either be in Ruidoso or Alamogordo, depending on how hungry everyone is! That will put us in Juarez, Mexico around 4pm or 5pm. We’ll have dinner at the church.

Not exactly sure what the schedule for Saturday looks like. I know that we will be going to the Soriana to buy groceries and then taking them to the Women Shelter. As well as all the supplies that we are bringing with us from the states. (For a detailed list of their needs, please click here)

Sunday we will attended church there, and then pack up and leave after lunch. We will probably stop for dinner some where along the way! That should put us back in Roswell, NM between 7pm-8pm.

I am excited about to see who the Lord leads to come on this trip! I know He has awesome things in store for everyone that goes!

Prayer Points:

  • The Lord would  lead everyone who is supposed to be on this trip.
  • Spiritual Fruit.
  • Protection crossing the Borders.
  • Continued growth of CC Las Palmas.
  • Protection for Pastor Ernesto and Magy Vega.

Please continue to pray for the peace of Mexico!
